As of 2025, the Nigerian national football team, known as the Super Eagles, has secured the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title three times. Their victories occurred in 1980, 1994, and 2013.
In the 1980 tournament, hosted on home soil, Nigeria clinched their inaugural AFCON title by defeating Algeria in the final. The 1994 edition saw the Super Eagles triumph over Zambia in the final match held in Tunisia. Their most recent championship came in 2013, when they overcame Burkina Faso in the final held in South Africa.
Despite reaching the final in 2024, Nigeria fell short, losing 2-1 to Ivory Coast, who claimed their third AFCON title. Consequently, as of 2025, Nigeria’s AFCON title count remains at three.
